Lyra is a Harpist!

Description

I had a epiphany the other day that went something like this:
Lalalala*looking through pony pictures*
Hey look! It's Lyra, I like Lyra, she plays the harp.
Bleh, I still need to put my harp away from my recital.
I'll do that later. (Yay procrastination!)
I should draw Lyra, because you know, we both play harps and she's cute.
Wait... LYRA PLAYS THE HARP! LYRA PLAYS THE HARP!
It all makes sense now! Lyra plays the harp!
How do harpists sit? I know! Must draw!

And there you are. Lyra doesn't want to be human, she wants to be a harpist :P Psssh, surprised I didn't figure that out sooner.
I figure that her talent is precision to pluck the strings with magic and that she actually doesn't use her hoofs at all but to balance the soundboard.

Soo... some of you are all like, "But that's a lyre on her butt! Not a harp!"
In the Gala episode there is a harpist pony with her exact cutie mark. Plus Lyra wasn't her official name initially, it was Heartstrings.

I think this is my best pony picture so far, and Lyra just became my new favorite background pony :)

UPDATE: This is one of my most popular pictures, as such I decided to update it. I cleaned it up, like with the shading and lines and fixed some things to. I don't beleive in getting rid of ld art, so you can see the original here if you would like: [link]

So much for that urban legend! Clapping Pony Icon - Lyra Heartstrings

The idea of Lyra obsessed with becoming a human is cute, but gets old after a while. And it's all because she sat down upright on a park bench early in the series. She sits upright like we do for the very reason you so beautifully illustrated--that's how you play the harp, as well as the lyre. I also entertain this cute idea that Lyra really does use her hooves to pluck the strings on her lyre, but is nimble with hooves as we are with fingers. She uses magic for more difficult arrangements along with her hooves.
